An emergency callback is when an employee is required to return to work after leaving the workplace following his or her normal work shift to handle a work-related emergency that cannot wait until regularly scheduled working hours. Employees must be paid a minimum of four hours for each callback.

Calculating Callback Pay

If the employee works less than four hours, the actual hours worked are recorded on the work record as hours worked. The balance of the four hours is recorded as a leave with pay.

If, at the end of the workweek an employee’s hours paid are greater than 40, he/she will receive  for all hours paid over 40.
